A turning point has been reached in the fight against Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) risks and threats worldwide. This was highlighted during the Annual meeting of the European Union CBRN Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (EU CBRN CoE) that took place from 12 to 14 June in La Hulpe (Belgium).

The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), through its Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, and the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) are organizing the 2nd Global Meeting on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Law Enforcement. The meeting will be held in Singapore on 3-4 July 2019 and will see the participation of representatives of the law enforcement, academia, private sector, and from UN and INTERPOL Member States.
A Memorandum of understanding was signed by the Ambassador Thomas Greminger, Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and Ms. Bettina Tucci Bartsiotas Director, a.i of UNICRI. Signing of the agreement between the two UN entities
UNICRI and the United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) signed an agreement establishing a framework for their cooperation.
On 27 March 2019, UNICRI and Global Affairs Canada signed a multi-year agreement for the implementation of the project “Enhancing capacities to prevent the trafficking of radiological and nuclear (RN) material in the Middle East.”
