The 18th National Focal Points (NFP) Round Table Meeting (RMT) for South East and Eastern Europe (SEEE), within the framework of the European Union (EU) Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (CoE) Initiative, took place on 16 May 2022. It was held on the sidelines of the International NFP Days meeting, organized by the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium.

Pre-course on Radiation and Nuclear Security Fundamentals

On 17-19 May 2022, UNICRI held the first, hybrid “Pre-course on Radiation and Nuclear (RN) Security Fundamentals” with the participation of experts in charge of countering radiological and nuclear trafficking in the Kingdom of Cambodia and in the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR).

Within the framework of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) “Women in Chemistry” Project, funded by the European Union, the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) are calling for women active in the chemical safety and security sector who can support the Institute in the identification of best practices on women’s engagement in this field. 

From 10-12 May 2022 in Nairobi, the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) organized the workshop “Using authentication technologies and nuclear analytical techniques to counter criminal infiltration into the legitimate supply chain: the cases of fuel frauds, illegal pesticides, illegal fishing and counterfeit medicines”.
