UNICRI on 29 April briefed an open meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Committee on preventing violent extremism through community resilience.

Instructors from Moldovan and Ukrainian security and law enforcement agencies gathered in Chisinau, Moldova from 22 to 25 April for the 2nd Train-the-Trainers (TTT) course, aimed at strengthening their capabilities in countering the trafficking of radiological and nuclear (RN) materials.

The Journal dedicated to the objectives of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540 for preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction by non-State actors

The 1540 Compass is an e-journal published by the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) that is dedicated to advancing the objectives, awareness and implementation of United Nations Security Council resolution 1540 (2004) (UNSCR 1540) and its successor resolutions. The journal aims to be a trusted source of knowledge, analysis, and dialogue for countering the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and their means of delivery by non-State actors.

UNICRI’s Acting Director, Leif Villadsen, addressed leaders at the first G7 Rome-Lyon Group Heads of Delegation Meeting on 18 April and proposed solutions to tackle the threat of increasing crime in the two vital areas of synthetic drug trafficking and the use of emerging technologies for crime and exploitation.

The meeting, hosted by Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was the first under the Italian Presidency.

Asi Caserta and UNICRI will collaborate to strengthen strategies for preventing and countering organized crime. The partnership was formalized with a memorandum of understanding, signed in the presence of Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Edmondo Cirielli.

On Friday, April 19, 2024, at 11:30 a.m., at the Grand Hotel Vanvitelli, the new project of the Consortium for Industrial Development Area (ASI) Caserta and UNICRI will be presented. The initiative aims to promote and implement a sustainable social development path in the industrial area of the province of Caserta.

The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) and the Indonesian National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) have joined forces to address the pressing issue of chemical terrorism in Indonesia. A second consultation meeting for the development of a policy paper to prevent and respond to chemical terrorism in Indonesia took place on March 20-21, 2024, in Yogyakarta.
