Manila, 7 September 2105: In the past two years the project “Strengthening laboratory bio-safety and bio-security through the development of a laboratory iso-bank system” (Project 15) has been implemented in Thailand and the Philippines.
Cybercrime represents a serious threat to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), both across Europe and at the global level. SMEs constitute 99.8% of enterprises in Europe. Many of these entities are micro enterprises, with less than 10 employees and very often lack the resources and know-how to properly mitigate cyber threats. As a consequence, they are at risk of being exploited by cybercriminals. Italy, in particular, maintains a large SME sector, with 99.9% of its business enterprises being classified as SMEs.
The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), the World Bank, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and Assonime are organizing a workshop on anti-counterfeiting technologies.
The workshop, that will be held at the EXPO Venice 2015 on 9 September 2015 from 14:30 to 18:30, will focus on the positive impact of anti-counterfeiting technologies on the protection of Intellectual Property Rigths (IPRs), economic development and the fight against organized crime.
A workshop on hate speech and hate crime will be held in Rome from 27–29 October 2015. The event is being organized by the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), in cooperation with the Institute for International Legal Studies of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) and other partners. The workshop is addressed to lawyers and law enforcement agencies and aims at promoting knowledge on hate speech and hate crime prevention strategies and actions.
