The Hague Good Practices on the Nexus between Transnational Organized Crime and Terrorism
Understanding the ways in which transnational organized crime and terrorism are linked has become a priority concern for many Member States. In this regard, the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 2195 (2014), on the interaction of terrorism and cross-border crime and its impact on international peace and security, called upon States to better understand and address this nexus as a threat to security and development.
A new research study on the identification and analyses of malware on selected suspected copyright-infringing websites was published by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The research was carried out in cooperation with UNICRI.
A senior level official with many years of experience in international organizations and the private sector, Ms. Bettina Tucci Bartsiotas, will lead the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI). The new Director a.i. of UNICRI brings to the Institute a wealth of senior-level experience in the management of complex international organizations, with emphasis on strategic planning, programme design, budgeting and finance.
On 20 - 24 August, Puebla has hosted the 6th workshop on tourism security in Mexico. On 9 – 10 August UNICRI participated in the 2018 Meeting of Experts of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) held at the Palais des Nations, in Geneva.
