Progress on the UNICRI initiative for the protection of vulnerable targets by enhancing private and public sector cooperation
While the international community is facing new threats posed by transnational terrorism, new worldwide synergies between public and private sectors to protect vulnerable targets need to be created. This was the objective of the brainstorming session that took place on 6th and 7th November at the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute - UNICRI - Headquarters.
UNICRI and the Attorney General of Spain organize a workshop in Madrid on victims and witness protection
Within the framework of its programme on Security Governance and Counter-Terrorism, the Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) will organize an advance training course on victims and witness protection in cooperation with the Attorney General of Spain. The event will take place in Madrid at the 'Centro de Estudios Jurìdicos' (CEJ) of the Spanish Ministry of Justice from 19 to 21 November.

During the war in Angola, the juvenile justice system ceased to function, and children were not guaranteed adequate protection. Minors in conflict with the law were tried by ordinary courts and kept in adult detention facilities.
UN Turin Opens its Doors to Citizens to Celebrate UN Day 2007
The UN campus in Turin opens its doors to the public on 21 October 2007 for the first time in several years.
The campus hosts three bodies within the UN system: the ITC/ILO, the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization; UNICRI, the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute; and the UNSSC, the United Nations System Staff College.
Strengthening International Cooperation in View of the Olympic Games

The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) organized a two day seminar to discuss best practises, experiences and ideas for improving security at major events. The seminar saw the participation of numerous representatives of international institutions and security agencies from a number of different Olympic Family nations.
